Someone Needs to Hear This

Someone needs to hear this…

Equity practitioner, educator, caretaker of the young,

You are worthy to be loved, seen, and believed. Your calling out (or in) of both individuals and systems are heard and appreciated. Your presence gives light to those who see their future selves reflected in you. Your story fills in the potholes in their narratives about who you are supposed to be. Your voice encourages others to recognize the power of their own. Your generous smile reminds them that they are valued. Your saying their name correctly highlights that they, if no where else, belong. Your stern correction demonstrates your high expectations that you will never lower. Your timely side-eye lets them know that you ain’t here for it today. Not today. Your laugh speaks the joy that is present even amongst the struggle. Your tattoos, hairstyle, piercings, all the things that you display proudly empowers them to be their authentic self. Your accent sings their motherland and offers a different one to honor and acknowledge. Your tireless work ethic highlights the love and concern that they will remember while they fight the demons that whisper that they are not enough. Your showing up each day for them models that they can show up for themselves and others.

Someone needs to hear this so please share it with them.
