How to Boost Your Productivity
Throughout the year, countless amounts of balls fly and fall. The balls have tripled. Board meeting. Project X. Parent conference. Random fire. Student affinity group. Random colleague. Project Y. Random fire. Families affinity group. Admin support. Project Z.
Juggler or an equity practitioner?
Below is a productivity hack, the Ivy Lee Method. Before we explore it, know that your value as a person and as a professional is not tied to your productivity. We are still in the middle of a pandemic, racial unrest, and mental health challenges. The best way to boost your productivity is sleep and self-care. Use what you need.
The night before write down five to six tasks that you want to get done. Be specific.
Prioritize that list.
At work, start working on the first priority and do not move onto another task until it is completed.
Whatever tasks are not completed are automatically moved over to the next day.
Some tips to help:
Check email is too vague. Plus, emails tend to be tasks assigned to you by other people.
Start with two to three tasks so that you are not overwhelmed.
Connect the task of writing down your tasks to a habit that you already do in the evening. After your brush your teeth, then work on your list.
Reflect on your list daily. If you continue to push something over to the next day, is it something that can be delegated or dropped?
